Today's Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua (and Lisbon!) invites us to revisit this man of the Middle Ages whose message is for the peoples of all ages! Born in Portugal in the early 1190's, he eventually found his way to Italy where he joined the Franciscans and brought the Good News of Jesus to the people of that land.
A wonderful British artist, Stephen B. Whatley created this powerful rendition of the traditional portrait of Anthony cradling the Christ Child in his arms. You can read more about Whatley by visiting http://www.stephenbwhatley.com/.
Follow the link below and you'll find an excellent article that places some of our devotions to Saint Anthony in the context of his actual life.
Hope you enjoy it! Excuse me, I have to go now and find my car keys!!!
